Best Biscuits

2 c. flour 1 T. baking powder 1/2 t. salt 5 T. butter
1/4 c. shortening 1/3 c. milk 2 T. sugar 1 egg
Dice fats into dry ingredients.  Stir milk into well in center.  Knead lightly 30 seconds.  Roll out to 3/4 inch. Put on HOT backing sheet.  Brush with egg or milk.  Bake near top of oven for 10 min. at 450.

Crumble

6 T. butter 3/4 c. flour 1/3 c. brown sugar 1/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. oats 1 t. cinnamon 1/4 t. nutmeg 1/2 c. walnuts
Cut together butter & flour.  Add rest of ingredients.

Arn Cookies

3 c. flour 2 eggs 1/2 c. oil 1 c. sugar
1 1/2 t. baking powder 1 t. vanilla 1/2 c. warm water
Mix all til dense cookie texture.  Roll out & cut into diamonds.  Bake at 375 til done.

Cowboy Marinade

1/3 c. cider vinegar 3 T. Worcestershire sauce 1 T. brown sugar 1 3/4 t. dry mustard
2 cloves garlic 1 c. vegetable oil
Blend all but oil in blender til smooth.  Add oil & blend til emulsified. Use on steaks.

Gazpacho

3 tomatoes 1 cucumber 1 green pepper 2 cloves garlic
1/2 c. roasted almonds 1/4 c. wine vinegar 1/2 c. olive oil 1 t. paprika
1 oz. sweet sherry 1 slice stale bread salt to taste
Cut all into pieces.  Soak bread in water & squeeze out.  Mix all in blender.
 

Cheese Potatos

15 small - med. potatos, thinly sliced 12 oz grated cheese 1/4 stick butter
1/4 cup flour salt & pepper 1/2 c. milk  
Make 3 layers in large casserole of potatos, dabs of butter, salt & pepper, cheese, and sprinkling of flour.  When pan is full, pour in milk & cover; bake up to 1.5 hrs. at 350.  Uncover last 1/2 hour.  ALTERNATIVE:  blend milk & cheese together & pour over after layering potatos.
       

Yeast Waffles

     
2.5 c. milk 2 c. flour 1 package active dry yeast 1/2 cup butter, melted & cooled
1 t. sugar 1 t. salt 2 eggs, beaten 1/4 t. baking soda
1/2 t. vanilla      
The night before you intend to make the waffles, place the milk in a saucepan and heat gently over medium heat (about 110 degrees) for several minutes until it feels warm to the touch.

Transfer the warm milk to a large bowl. Stir in the flour, yeast, butter, sugar, and salt to form a batter. If the batter is lumpy, beat with a whisk until smooth. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let sit at room temperature for 8 to 12 hours. The batter should rise an inch or two and bubble on the surface.

Preheat a waffle iron, preferably nonstick. Stir the eggs into the batter along with the baking soda and vanilla, and mix well. The batter will be somewhat thinner than most waffle batters. Spray the waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray and ladle the batter into the iron using ½ to ¾ cup batter per waffle. The batter should be thin enough to fill out the iron without help. Close the iron and cook until the waffles have risen, turned golden brown, and crisped, 7 to 8 minutes or so, depending on your waffle iron. Repeat with remaining batter.

The batter will keep three or four days in the refrigerator.

  1. Corpse Pose 30 sec.

  2. Overhead stretch 20 sec. - on inhale, reach arms overhead, stretch heels in opposite direction

  3. Pelvic Tilt 30 sec. - knees drawn up, rock pelvis up to lift off floor, then down to create arch in lower back

  4. Knees to Chest Roll 20 sec. - draw knees to chest, lift forehead to knees, gently rock side to side

  5. Head to Knee 20 sec. each leg - legs on floor, draw one up to chest, lift forehead to knee

  6. Cat Cow 40 sec.

  7. Cat Stretch 15 sec. each leg/arm - from cat cow, stretch one leg out straight & level, and the opposite arm the same

  8. Half Bridge 40 sec. - knees drawn up, lift butt & lower back off floor, stretch arms toward feet & lock thumbs

  9. Hip Stretch 30 sec. each side - bend knees, let fall to one side, turn head to other side, lift arms out away from body

  10. Head to Knee with Lift 60 sec. each leg - legs bent, lift one straight up, grab with hands, lift forehead to knee

  11. Side Leg Lift 50 sec. each leg - roll on side, prop head up on hand, lift top leg from hip as high as possible, steady with hand on floor at tummy

  12. Belly Leg Lift 15 sec. each leg - arms at side, chin on floor, lift leg stretching back

  13. Cobra 15 sec.

  14. Plow Pose 50 sec. - knees bent at ears

  15. Corpse Pose 1 min. 30 sec.
