diary : november 2005

How relaxing in the pools beneath a waterfall in MauiThe highlight, without a doubt, was a week on Maui.  There is just nothing wrong with that place. Nothing.  Both of us really needed some true do-nothing time, so we returned to the Maui Weston on Ka'anapali Beach that had treated us so well in 2003.  I think the only time we left was to drive the famed "Hana Highway" through the rainforest to the southern coast, where we stayed a couple days on famed Hamoa Beach.

But there was other fun to be had in November.  I saw Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio, with buddy Sung - it's a treat because no one dies, true love AND justice prevail, and it has a happy ending.  Wait, this is opera?

Howard attended a spontaneous mini-reunion at Vassar with a bunch of our friends.  I hear they moved from endless bridge-playing to endless poker-playing.  While he was out of town, pal Camille & I took in another Alonzo King's LINES ballet, our local superb modern dance troupe.
