diary : november 2003

Started the month by flying into Houston, getting picked up by 2 unfamiliar men and driven to an unknown location, handing them a cashier's check for a large sum, and heading west in a vehicle with no title or registration.  No, I haven't started a new career as a drug courier.  We bought a used Sequoia on eBay and I volunteered to drive it "home".

Me in Big Bend National MonumentIt was a GREAT road trip. It's been ages since I did this, bookin' down the highway on no schedule, with the tunes cranked & pulling off wherever it suited. Took 4+ days and took in Big Bend and Joshua Tree National Monuments.  Ah, freedom!

Also saw an awesome opera - a very modern feeling piece from 1934 called Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.  Bawdy, full of angst (of course) and great music.  That same week I got to hear more Shostakovich at the SF Symphony.

AND my long-lost pal Pam breezed back into town after a year's absence, packing up her pad for a move to Australia!
